A NEW youth MP has been chosen in Westminster after thousands of young people cast their votes.
Around 4,500 teenagers voted over three weeks, with 16-year-old Aziz Saiq from King Solomon Academy coming out winner. Seventeen-year-old Mohammed Awale, from the same school, has been named as his deputy for the Youth Parliament.
Westminster’s new Youth MP said: “I am delighted to be elected. It is a surreal feeling. So thank you to all those who have supported me. I have a lot of goals that I want to achieve over the coming year so I am keen to get out there, meet the community and all those who voted for me and start making a difference.”
