What police didn’t know about the Baker Street bank job

28 September, 2018

• HELLO – I read with interest your item about my recollection of the Baker Street bank burglary (Policeman tells memories of the 1971 Baker Street bank burglary, September 21) but the fourth paragraph mentioned police efforts to find those “who they believed were digging their way into a bank vault…”.

It might have been more accurate to have substituted “who were later found to have been digging their way into a bank vault…”, particularly as my contribution observed how the available information was itself scant and difficult to point towards what actually was going on at the time.
