We have enough monstrous towers already

Too many towers

• WESTMINSTER City Council has not only got bad form on proposed towers like the Pole and its replacement the Cube in Paddington (Let’s have more tall buildings, March 31) but let us not forget those it’s already permitted to be built.

You only have to look at the blighted skyline across Paddington around the Marylebone flyover to see it very clearly.

Here we have, what we can call the four ugly tower sisters – Burne House on Bell Street, Capital House on Chapel Street, Paddington Green police station and finally Metropole Hotel, Edgware Road – which speak volumes for how the council has let developers get away with grim grey buildings.

This at the gateway into central London by road from the west. Would anyone trust the planners again with tower proposals after such monstrous ones have gone up already?
