We do realise the importance of the Whittington Park
03 July, 2020
• THE letter (We want this important wildlife area back, June 26) is a little misleading and the reality is not the travesty Keith Macfarlane refers to it as.
We didn’t lose the whole meadow, as he himself said, a “compromise” was reached and, as you can see from the picture (above) we still have part of our beautiful meadow.
The real good news story is that new housing is being built to ease the housing crisis we have in Islington and especially in our locality.
There will be a new play area on the Wedmore Estate and the response to consultation held in 2017 showed people there thought: “The play areas have been relocated to more prominent areas that are easily supervised by parents.”
We are residents and councillors and can assure Mr Macfarlane that we do realise the importance of the Whittington Park to local people.
Let’s work together to make sure that the wildflower is reinstated as promised when the building work is finished and at the same time improve the lives of everyone that needs a new home in Islington.
