VALERIE Leon has been in films such as The Italian Job and The Spy Who Loved Me (both were as hotel receptionists, incidentally), and a series of other much- loved Brit flicks including a host of Carry On capers.

Now Diary gets word she will be sharing tales of her life and times playing roles such as Queen Tera in Hammer’s Blood From The Mummy’s Tomb, The High Priestess in the film Queen Kong, Tanya The Lotus Eater in The Revenge of Pink Panther, and the Karate After Shave girl. It’s at Zedel in Sherwood Street, Soho, on Thursday, November 9.

She also had the pleasure of appearing with Richard Burton, Richard Harris and Roger Moore in the war film The Wild Geese. “I loved working with Roger,” she said. “When I went to Pinewood for an audition for The Spy Who Loved Me, I said to Cubby Broccoli, please do not kill me off!

“But I then regretted that as the people who die have more memorable parts. I ended up working with Roger four times, in The Saint, where we did a three-in-a-bed scene, and although it was the Sixties, it was actually terribly innocent.

“I was also in The Persuaders, and Roger gave me an unscripted kiss. I just closed my eyes and enjoyed it. They kept it in.”

For all fans of British film, this will be a treat.
