24 March, 2017 — By Geoffrey Sawyer

A HOSPITAL chief executive has revealed how a series operations had to be cancelled due to five weeks of winter chaos at University College London Hospital. Professor Marcel Levi said he declared an “internal incident” at the Euston hospital after a “steep rise” in flu patients was “followed by an influx of patients with norovirus”. In this month’s board report, Prof Levi said: “Whilst there was a vast impact on elective activity, almost all planned cancer surgery was able to go ahead.”
