The Peter Principle in all its glory?

• AS Paul Braithwaite points out, (Look at the Johnson record, May 31) Boris Johnson has failed as mayor, failed as foreign secretary, and, ebullience not dented, is in line to become a failed leader of the Conservative party; even a failed actor on the world stage should he become PM.
He surely is a prime illustration of the validity of The Peter Principle, the concept in management theory whereby people tend to rise to their level of incompetence.
