The night economy noise hits our sleep

11 August, 2017

• WE live opposite G-A-Y club in Goslett Yard (Huge rent and rates rise ‘a threat to gay bars and clubs’, August 4).

While I understand their need to make money I shudder to think of the venue being given another hour’s extension to their licence until 4am. At the moment half the cul-de-sac is taken up as a smoking area and invariably a queue extends down the yard and into Charing Cross Road itself, especially on the weekend.

The noise until the early hours is sometimes appalling when we are trying to sleep. We do have installed double-glazing but sometimes this does not help. Westminster Council’s noise control is useless and will not listen to us because we are across the road in Camden.

We now learn that we have to have a 2,000 capacity music venue built alongside our property. Heaven help us.
