The new Bishop of London will have her work cut out
28 June, 2018
Bishop Sarah Mullally
• IT’S going to be most interesting to see what impact, if any, the appointment of a female Bishop of London will have upon those branches of the Church of England who continue to condemn the ordination of women.
Some of these same churches aggressively reject LGBT people such as lesbians. I also understand that a few even claim that Catholics are not true Christians, a sentiment unlikely to appeal to the Roman Catholic Church.
The new bishop Sarah Mullally certainly has her work cut out if she is to challenge such prejudices. Let us hope that she can obtain some clearly-defined, measurable advances in dragging such churches into the 21st century.
