A SUSPECTED Banksy mural sprung up on a wall in Marble Arch marking the end of a ten day protest by Extinction Rebellion activists.
The environmental mural, which is yet to be confirmed as a Banksy artwork, shows a stencil of a young girl holding an extinction rebellion flag. The accompanying words say ‘From the moment despair ends tactics begin’.
The artwork appeared on Thursday evening while activists returned from celebrating the closing ceremony of the protests.
Maya Bracknell-Watson who has been camping out since last Monday at the Marble Arch base said the mural would become a “symbol” of the protests.
She said she first noticed the mural at around 8.30pm on Thursday evening as she returned from the closing ceremony of the protests.
She said: “This is now our symbol and it cannot be cleansed from our home.”
Tamsin, who travelled from Devon for the protests said the mural would be a “nice message” to leave behind.
She said: “I think it will stay for a while. With graffiti it is not meant to last forever but hopefully this will be a new landmark for London.”
