STANLEY Johnson, father of the foreign secretary Boris Johnson, told the Extra yesterday (Thursday) he was “totally thrilled” to discover he is a relative of a mummified Basel woman.
The novelist, former MEP and star of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, who lives in Queen’s Park, has discovered that a body of a woman found in a church in 1975 is his great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother.
The mummified body was uncovered while renovations were being done on Basel’s Barfüsser Church.
Scientists and historians have now discovered the mummy was none other than Anna Catharina Bischoff. Born in Basel in 1719, she died there in 1787 and had seven children. One married Christian Hubert Baron Pfeffel von Kriegelstein.
Several generations of von Pfeffels later, Marie Luise von Pfeffel married Stanley Fred Williams, whose grandson is Stanley Johnson.
