A FORMER shelter for the homeless which was converted into a backpackers’ hostel has been awarded “Hostel of the Year”.
The 295-bed SoHostel in Dean Street has been chosen as the best hostel in the country following an online vote.
The building was a hostel for long-term rough sleepers from the 1970s, providing a roof for people with varying support needs. In 2014 it was transformed for the use of travellers providing an affordable place for visitors to stay in Soho.
