'This club belongs to the members. These are the young men of tomorrow, they need the training now.'

A SPORTS team is not complete until it has a strip.
So it was a big moment for about a dozen Islington basketball players when the London Zips put on their fresh new kit this week for the first time.
The London Zips are the brainchild of Clerkenwell septuagenarian Lennox Charles.
A member of governing body Basketball England, he said: “This club belongs to the members. These are the young men of tomorrow, they need the training now.
“They will be taking responsibility for this club and the new strips.
“Adults don’t put enough faith in the youth today. I met these boys one-by- one in the streets and word went round.”
The club is part-funded by The Peel, a charity that aims to support community projects in Clerkenwell.
The Peel chief executive Thomas Neumark said: “Lennox is an experienced coach. The Peel is all about connecting communities so the partnership just made sense. Let’s hope it’s a slam dunk.”
