Should there not be guidelines for councillors to respond to our communications with them?
07 April, 2017
• I RECALL a 2016 letter (Still waiting to hear from the councillor, November 4) regarding a resident’s six-month wait for a response from Cllr Jonathan Glantz.
It caught my eye at the time as I too had been waiting for a response from two of his councillor colleagues in Bayswater (since February from Cllr Suhail Rahuja and since June from Cllr Brian Connell). I had sought their view and support with a planning matter.
Despite further requests for a response, a yes or no would have done, there has still been no reply.
I shared my exasperation with our MP Karen Buck who responded promptly in line with parliamentary guidelines on communication with the public.
Should there not be similar requirement for councillors?
The council’s website has a page giving information on contacting councillors leading one to believe that it may result in two-way communication. Not my experience and perhaps not that of others.
