Police found the victim’s body in Fernhead Road in the early hours of Monday morning.
A MURDER investigation was launched last night (Thursday) after a sex worker was found stabbed to death in her home.
Police found the body of the 32-year-old at her flat in Fernhead Road, Maida Vale, where she lived alone, in the early hours of Monday morning.
A post-mortem on Wednesday showed that she died from multiple stab wounds. Police are yet to formally identify the woman but have spoken to her family in Italy who said they last heard from her on May 21.
There have been no arrests yet.
Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall said: “While enquiries are ongoing to establish the motive for the attack, it is considered likely that the motive is linked to the victim being a sex worker. I would urge sex workers in the London area to be extra vigilant at this time, we are working hard to identify the attacker but we urgently require their assistance.
“If you have any concerns about a recent client’s behaviour, especially where threats or violence have been used, do come and speak with us.”
The death had initially been treated as unexplained but was deemed suspicious following the initial findings of the post-mortem.
