RESTAURANTS that deliver food through smartphone apps may have to apply for planning permission under a new policy being introduced by Westminster Council.
Restaurants providing large numbers of deliveries through companies like Deliveroo and UberEATS will have to apply for planning permission for the change of use and to reduce disturbance on the streets.
Westminster Council says moped drivers are causing a disturbance to locals and it plans to reduce the number of restaurants that are branching out into home delivery.
It is said delivery drivers are parking inappropriately, making noise, and causing congestion in the streets.
It is understood that the council crackdown is as a result of an increasing number of restaurants using delivery apps.
