Remain or Leave, the split is not party political and the system cannot cope

01 March, 2018

• IN my view your correspondent, (Brexit an important election issue for May 3, February 22), is completely wrong.

The mess and confusion of Brexit politics arises out of the fact that Remain / Leave loyalty does not split along party lines. The system cannot cope with this obvious reality.

He says: “It is true that issues such as housing, education, environment, health and others are primary factors” and he is quite right.

He should have left it at that. At this election, there is no way to vote to support Remain; it can’t be done.

This election must not be subverted down an irrelevant cul-de-sac by people who wish to gather votes by promising what they cannot possibly deliver.
