Regent Street goes car-free for Summer Streets music event

06 July, 2018 — By The Xtra Diary

Summer Streets to hit Regent Street

Off we go to Regent Street for a bit of car-free peace and quiet… what, you may ask, peace and quiet?

Surely some mistake? Not for another Trump demo?

No, says Diary: in fact rather the opposite. For Sundays throughout July, the only sound on this thoroughfare will be that of people enjoying live music as the West End road is closed off to traffic.

The Summer Streets events run from noon on consecutive Sundays, July 8th, 15th and 22nd, and the attractions include a giant Scalextric track, honey bees and their hives, a pan urban beach to chill on, and a tennis court to practise your serves.

Of course, this being Regent Street, the flagship stores will be out peddling their wares, too, with many special offers, giveaways and discounts available.

A range of street foods feature and opportunities for al fresco dining.
