Record results joy for GCSE students

‘Students extremely supportive of one another through the challenging exams’

AFTER an anxious summer of suspense, students received their GCSE results yesterday (Thursday).

At Westminster Academy, 70 per cent of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in each of the core subjects.

The school said it had several excellent students, including Anatoly Safiulov, who achieved an outstanding eight grade 9s. His classmate Maram Al-Dandal got seven grade 9s and two grade 8s.

Westminster Academy headteacher Dr Saima Rana said: “It has been a privilege to support such a kind group of students, who have been extremely supportive to one another through the challenging exam period.”

Paddington Academy students are also celebrating record results, with 82 per cent of students achieving 4+ in both English and Maths and 56 per cent gaining 5+. Rassim Lagha, Hamda Abdi and Ilyas Debbah all did especially well attaining six grade 9s along with the rest of their results.

Peter Jones, headteacher at Paddington Acad­emy, said: “As a school our purpose is to make sure children are well-educated and have the opportunity to go to university. Students at Paddington are some of the hardest working students in the UK and we are pleased to see the fruits of their efforts.

“We are committed to ensuring that every student, whatever their starting point, has the opportunity to succeed and these results are a testament to this.”
