Pollution hasn’t got me yet!

‘Perhaps exposure to dirt help us coping with its reported deleterious effects’

• I AM unconvinced by the premise that vehicle pollution is the culprit for many premature/preventable deaths.

In my eighth decade, I have spent much of the past 60-plus years on foot – for hours at a time – in and on the streets of inner and semi-inner London and currently live near the busiest road in the city.

I should be dead or severely threatened due to the pollution being promoted as a reason to levy a further charge on already heavily taxed traffic users, but I am not… far from it.

Perhaps exposure to dirt help us coping with its reported deleterious effects, while modern living keeps us obsessed with hygiene and cleanliness, encouraging the use of chemicals at every turn, to point of excluding good common sense.
