Parslow hits winning century

13 July, 2017

A WELL-CRAFTED century from James Parslow helped North Middlesex record a much-needed win away at Finchley on Saturday in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Cricket League.

Finchley largely had Sumeet Sharma to thank for their tally of 234 off 64 overs as he hit 96 not out. But where Sharma just missed out on celebrating his ton, Parslow succeeded as he smashed 11 fours and a six on his way to bringing up the 100 before being caught by Jamie Powe off Dean Gahagan’s bowling.

Wicketkeeper Charlie MacLeod also batted well to score 54 as Tom Nicoll’s side edged to a one-wicket victory with 236-9 off 55.2 overs.

The 10-point win saw North Midd move to within 22 points of leaders Ealing with eight games left to play.

Meanwhile, Hampstead picked up two points after being held to a draw in their away match against Shepherds Bush.

Skipper Andrew Wilson and Ben Davies hit respective scores of 83 and 77 as hosts Shepherds Bush ended their 66-over innings on 292-7.

Despite positive batting performances from Garth Davson (59 runs), Jack Biddulph (43 not out) and Jonathan Dunne (40 runs), Hampstead just failed to match their rivals run-rate as they finished on 255-9 off 59 overs.
