More than 100 pedestrian-taxi collisions took place in Westminster in 2015

12 May, 2017

• IT is frightening to discover that the City of Westminster accounts for nearly one-third of all road collisions involving pedestrians in conflict with taxi drivers.

In 2015 – the latest year for which accurate figures are available – 353 pedestrians were hit by taxis, while in Westminster the number was 102, the most ever. Altogether there were 471 pedestrian casualties in Westminster that year, again the most since records began. Some 50 of them were hit by cyclists, yet again the highest figure so far.

These statistics have increased year by year, so it will be interesting to learn in a few weeks’ time what they were for 2016.
