Marylebone Village to celebrate International Women’s Day 2021

A host of independent brands offering advice, insights and mentoring during a challenging year 1-8 March 2021

Marylebone Village will celebrate International Women’s Day in March, with a week-long celebration supporting the official 2021 theme of Choose to Challenge.

With an abundance of award-winning and independent brands, Marylebone Village is home to an abundance of exceptional businesses, many of which are founded and run by women.

The Marylebone Village International Women’s Day campaign will run from Monday 1st March to Monday 8th March 2021 and will see a variety of free virtual talks, activities, workshops, as well as a series of interviews, in-conversations, advice and mentoring tips from a selection of inspirational women’s illustrious careers.

With an abundance of award-winning and independent women and brands to showcase, the campaign will cover a variety of topics including equality, balancing work and personal life, career advice and the challenges women face today, including how they have coped and kept their businesses running throughout the pandemic.

The line-up includes a host of inspirational owners, founders and female run businesses in the Marylebone Village community including; British Jewellery designer Dinny Hall, KOIBIRD founder Belma Gaudio, Sue Townsend, founder of Ortigia Sicilia, Agnes B, founder of iconic French brand agnès b., Tricia Guild, founder of Designer’s Guild, and Margaret Dabbs, who founded her eponymous clinics and brand in the 1990’s.

Hear from Marylebone Village newcomer Evoke London, whose beautiful handcrafted pieces are made by traditional artisan communities in India, Africa and across the world, through fair networks of sourcing and collaboration. Find out more about their role in the preservation of these practices and the importance of this subject in the rural communities they work with in order to empower women.

Bernie Gallagher, Owner and Head of Design at the Doyle Collection Hotels, will give her insights into running The Marylebone Hotel, after a tough year for hospitality.

Also on the line-up will be Margo Marrone, Founder of The Organic Pharmacy, Linda Dauriz, CEO of Scandinavian fashion brand Tiger of Sweden and Nathalie Martin, founder of the Gloucester Room Gallery who regularly work with an incredible range of talented and interesting women artists from diverse international origins.

Join Amy Taylor from AMP gym for guided meditation and yoga sessions throughout the week, Erin McGuiness General Manager at Fischer’s will offer insights from her career in hospitality and The Ginger Pig Deli Manager Vida will share her inspirational journey with the company and the importance of their Moxon Street store.

Hear from Resma Malde, Superintendent Pharmacist at the Queen’s pharmacy, John Bell & Croyden, who have stayed open as an essential service throughout the pandemic. Resam will explain how and why COVID-19, despite being a huge challenge, has revolutionised the role of the pharmacist.

Get the insider info from the designers at The Conran Shop, hear from Ruth Motterhead, Creative Director at The Little Greene Paint Company, Katie Caldesi who has run her Marylebone restaurant and cookery school Caldesi with her husband for over two decades and the women behind brands including The Coach Makers Arms, Kastur Jewels, Ace and Tate, as well as those at the heart of the Marylebone Village community such as St Marylebone Church.
