SMASH-AND-GRAB gem thieves broke into a luxury Hampstead jewellers in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Dinny Hall in Hampstead High Street was hit by two motorcyclists who broke into the store “ruthlessly breaking display cases” and “leaving a trail of debris, glass and jewellery strewn in their wake”, according to the owner.
Ms Hall, the chief executive of the high end jewellery chain, did not reveal how much had been stolen – but several of the glass display cases were empty when the New Journal dropped in this morning.
Ms Hall said: “Of course we are devastated, we are a small team and have worked incredibly hard to make our Hampstead store integrally part of the local retail community. We will pull together with the help of our fantastic local support network in Hampstead and stand strong against this type of anti-social behaviour. We are working on procedures to immediately increase our security at the store and will pull together to get the store back up and running as soon as possible.”

Ms Hall said her team was focussed on staying positive and would continue with “exciting expansion plans” for her brand in December.
Linea Fashion, a clothes shop in Heath Street since 1991, was also targeted by scooter thieves on the same night.
A Met Police spokesman said: “We were called at 1.34am to Hampstead High Street, to reports of an attempted burglary. Windows were smashed by the suspects. They made off on a motorbike.”
