London’s image is now being damaged
12 April, 2019
• THE issue of London and its infrastructure is now becoming an embarrassment to the capital. Two years ago we were starting to think about getting sign off in parliament for Crossrail 2 – but that seems a distant memory.
Since those heady days we have seen the Elizabeth line stall, dramatically stall, financially and now concerns remain over the safety of a key bridge in the capital (Hammersmith Bridge, now closed indefinitely), with no funding mechanism in sight.
Transport for London and government need to sit down as a matter of urgency to work out a long-term financial package as soon as possible and not wait for a full spending review as London and its image is suffering.
