THE Guinness was flowing and spirits were high for the StPatrick’s Day celebrations on Sunday.

Revellers dressed in green filled Trafalgar Square for a day of Irish-themed fun, with thousands joining in a jolly singalong at the culmination of the three days of festivities. It was a day that brought people together, such as Sandy and Olly Wilcock, who were dancing along with their friend Sarah Lee.

Ms Wilcock told Diary: “We met Sarah here seven years ago at the Trafalgar Square St Patrick’s Day Celebrations. Now every year we meet at the front of the stage. It’s amazing.”

Comedian Jarlath Regan played host while Rusangan Family, Moxie, Lisa Lambe and Derek Ryan provided the musical entertainment.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan took to the stage and shouting out: “What’s the craic, Trafalgar Square?” Dressed in a fetching green scarf over his usual suited and booted get-up, he added: “London is lucky to have the Irish.”

Earlier in the day a vibrant parade, wound its way from Hyde Park Corner via Piccadilly to Trafalgar Square complete with marching bands, floats and dancers galore, with comedian Dara Ó Briain leading the way.
