A WOMAN from Maida Vale has been named “Tenant of the Year” in a national award ceremony.

Kay McCormack, who is chair of Carlton Vale Residents’ Association and chair of the Safer Neighbourhoods ward panel, was recognised for her work after she obtained grants for community projects.

She has also arranged trips, parties and Christmas dinners for older people to combat isolation.

Ms McCormack said: “I was delighted to receive the Tenant of the Year Award. The ceremony was lovely and it was fantastic to meet so many other residents who are doing excellent work in their communities.

“I am excited about our next big plans for Maida Vale and will continue working with residents to build a community that we, and future generations, can enjoy.” She thanked Westminster’s housing management firm CityWest Homes for helping her with her community projects.

Lorna Whitehorn, head of resident engagement and opportunities at CityWest Homes said: “Kay is a true community champion. She always goes out of her way to support and campaign for Maida Vale and City of Westminster residents.

“She is a real asset to the local community and we are so pleased that Tpas England has recognised Kay’s outstanding work on a regional level. We look forward to continuing our work with Kay as she drives forward changes that make her area an even better place to live.”

The annual Tenant Participation Advisory Service awards took place on February 9 and Ms McCormack’s award was for the south of England.
