Islington residents don’t want taxi drivers interfering in our democracy!

31 July, 2020

I heard the cabbies’ chat

• I SAW the road block demonstration at the Town Hall last Thursday and want the record set straight.

This was, in no meaningful sense, a demonstration by Islington residents. It was organised by an online trade website and most of the people attending were taxi drivers and their families.

I’m sure a few were actual residents, but the majority were cabbies. Not only did they look like cabbies but I overheard some of their conversations and they were cabbies.

Of course, they have every right to air their views about people-friendly streets, but not while pretending to be residents.

Just as the UK doesn’t want Russians interfering in our elections, Islington residents don’t want taxi drivers interfering in our democracy!
