Aaron Ramsey says he is focused on leaving Gunners fans with ‘something special’ in what looks set to be his final season at the club

AARON Ramsey has revealed that he thought he was about to put pen to paper on a new deal with Arsenal, only for the club to change their mind at the last minute.

Despite the disappointment, the 27-year-old midfielder has vowed to make what stands to be his final season at the Emirates Stadium a memorable one.

The breakdown in talks has sparked speculation of a move in January – with Liverpool, Juventus, and even Tottenham among those linked.

Ramsey, however, says he is focused on leaving Gunners fans with “something special”.

“Things happen in football and you just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best you can,” he said.

“Everything has been going great with the club. We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal, but that’s no longer the case.

“So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season, and I’ll leave the rest with the club now.

“I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best this season to achieve something special.”
