THE famous faces are queueing up to hand out trophies in the Camden and Islington Youth League.
We reported last week how William Gallas magically appeared at Market Road to present players from Fusion Football with their medals and trophies after they won the Under-8s Challenge Cup.
But the former France, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham defender has surely been upstaged, after Hollywood A-lister Danny DeVito turned up to hand out the silverware at a special tournament that the league organised for their girls’ teams.
The star of such blockbusters as Twins and Throw Momma from the Train, who was invited along by a parent of one of the players, presented champions Camden Town Youth with their much-sought-after cup, and handed out medals to players from runners-up Highbury Wolves, Fusion, Islington Girls and FC Brazilianas.
League secretary Karen Greene is inviting as many girls teams as possible to take part in the new campaign. “It has been a fantastic debut season for the Camden and Islington Girls Football League,” she said.
“The league is really growing. New teams have already entered and from September the girls will be playing seven-a-side matches on the main pitches.
“The league would like to thank Acerbis UK, who provided all the girls’ teams with new kits, and London Trophy Company in Holloway for sponsoring all the cups and medals.”
