COLLIE cross Pippa upstaged a host of celebrities on Sunday when she won hearts – and top honours – at a charity dog show.
Comedian Alan Carr, actors Michelle Collins and Peter Egan and radio presenter James Whale were among the famous faces who turned out to support All Dogs Matter’s much-loved Great Hampstead Bark Off. But it was the 14-year-old pooch from Canonbury that drew the biggest applause from the crowds at Parliament Hill Fields when she was announced as the winner of the “golden oldie” competition.
“She’s been through a lot recently,” said owner Nina May, who was wheeling Pippa around in a comfy trolley. “She has lymphoma and recently started chemotherapy. She has lost an eye because of glaucoma, and has lost her hearing in one ear.
“Everyone has been so kind to her,” Nina added. “She really deserved her prize.”
