Vivianne Miedema: ‘I have been really happy with my form, scoring goals to help the team and we are in a good place in the league’
ARSENAL will be looking to tighten their grip on top spot in the Women’s Super League on Sunday when they kick off their 2020 fixtures by welcoming Birmingham City to Meadow Park.
The defending champions are three points clear of Manchester City after winning nine of the 10 games played so far.
Chelsea, who are managed by Camden-born coach Emma Hayes, are third on 23 points, but have a game in hand on the Gunners.
One not-so-secret weapon that could separate the sides come the end of the season is Arsenal’s star striker Vivianne Miedema. So far this season the Netherlands international has scored 26 goals and recorded 10 assists in just 16 games.
Reflecting on her season so far, Miedema said: “I have been really happy with my form, scoring goals to help the team and we are in a good place in the league.”
And Birmingham be warned, Miedema enjoyed some time off over Christmas, which she spent with her family, and will now come back refreshed and fully focused on adding to her incredible tally.
