Exposing Zionism is not to attack Jewish people

26 October, 2017

Professor Moshé Machover

• COUNCILLOR Phil Rosenberg is apparently outraged at Professor Moshé Machover making “the Zionist-Nazi connection” (Moshé Machover’s historical revisionism is not just poor history, it is malicious, October 19).

However the evidence is common-place, for example, Zionist Edwin Black’s well-researched The Transfer Agreement: The Dramatic Story of the Pact Between the Third Reich and Jewish Palestine.

Cllr Rosenberg implies that it is anti-Semitic to raise this connection, as if history must be hidden to avoid anti-Semitism; but exposing Zionism is not attacking Jewish people rather it is defending us from Zionists who made deals with Nazis.

Cllr Rosenberg is director of public affairs for the Board of Deputies of British Jews. In the midst of the unspeakable terror unleashed by the Israeli state on Gaza in 2009/10, the board organised a “Mass rally in support of Israel”. What were they supporting?

We remember the horrific use of white phosphorus, bombing of schools, hospitals and mosques, deaths of 1,400 Gazans, almost a third of whom were children. The Board of Deputies says it speaks for British Jews, but it does not speak for those of us who refuse to hide mass murder.

The board says it is “leading the fight” against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.  We say that they are attacking the greatest non-violent, anti-racist movement of our time.

Therefore we will spell out the truth of what has been done to any of us. For Jewish people it must begin with supporting BDS and Palestine.
