Drug use should only be for medical purposes

24 May, 2019

• THERE should be only one avenue for drug use, that approved for prescribed and regulated medical action. Otherwise use becomes abuse.

That great discovery morphine was/is invaluable in the treatment of pain but its effects can be addictive and this requires careful supervision and care while not disallowing its continued use for the benefit of those suffering the agony associated with various malaises, including terminal illness.

Cannabis is now reported to be useful in certain supervised medical cases but its abuse has been known to cause dangerous dependency and psychotic episodes. There should be no justification for non-medical adoption of any defined drug(s).
