AFTER a long summer break, the Dartmouth Park Film Club sets out its seats and fires up its projector for a special screening on October 19, 7pm, of the 2014 film about Spandau Ballet, Soul Boys of the Western World. Director George Hencken will be there to join the screening and chat about her work, which includes working with Julien Temple. Made entirely from archive footage, expect some brilliant 1980s clothing and hair on show as we follow the boys from London new romantic pop clubs to global stardom. http://dartmouthparkfilmclub.com

• Meanwhile, while we are on the topic of splendid film clubs, here is some important news: fans of the awesome Tufnell Park Film Club – do not fret. The temporary closure of the Lord Palmerston means film club is having a short break, but I hear it will be back and as good as ever once the pub has had its re-fit. Go to www.tufnellparkfilmclub.com for up to date information.

• Kate Winslet shows once more what a good actor she is in The Mountain Between Us. Starring alongside Idris Elba, it tells the story of two people desperate to get to their destinations so they when their flights are cancelled, they hire a little plane and then disaster happens. As in the true story of the amazing Andes rugby team told in the film Alive, they have to decide whether to they stick in their little aeroplane and await rescue – or try to scale the peaks. Watch Winslet stroll her way with ease through it.
