ACTRESS, singer and TV personality Claire Sweeney will look back at her 30-year career in one of Soho’s most intimate cabaret venues.

She is taking centre stage at Crazy Coqs at Brasserie Zédel, Soho, for four nights this July.

Well known for her role as Lindsey Corkhill in Channel 4’s Brookside, Claire she has also performed a range of other roles in British dramas and tested the waters of reality TV, appearing on Celebrity Big Brother and Strictly Come Dancing.

She has also appeared in West End shows such as Chicago, Tell Me on A Sunday and Guys and Dolls, where she co-starred alongside the late Patrick Swayze, whom she described as “wonderful”.

Speaking to Westminster Extra from Mallorca, Claire recalled: “When I was starring in Chicago, the black and white posters were all over London. I was sat on a stool, legs wide apart, leaning forward, very sexy. And I remember going down into the tube and being thrilled because my poster was all down the side. But when I got to the bottom someone had literally blacked out all my teeth and put chewing gum on my Mary. I was totally defaced, which kind of brought me down to earth with a bang.”

Claire also looked back to when she was the first entertainer to perform for British troops in Afghanistan. She said it was an “amazing experience” not least because her brother was

in the military so it was a real insight into his life, which was “poles apart” from her own.

“I remember when a plane was landing and was completely blacked out because the plane before it had been shot at. My friends were saying ‘aren’t you terrified?’ and I said ‘well, I’m with the British military, if I’m going to be safe anywhere I’m going to be safe with them’,” she added.

Her appearance at Crazy Coqs isn’t the only thing fans have to look forward to. Claire is appearing in an upcoming  pantomime and “a very exciting new TV project,” the details of which must remain under wraps for now.

“And as you can hear’ I’m busy being a mummy as well,” she laughed.
