Carols for Christmas lights switch-on at Rec

13 December, 2019 — By Tom Foot

CHRISTMAS lights were switched on at Paddington Recreation Ground.

The annual lighting ceremony for the enormous 24ft Christmas tree raised donations for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity partner of Everyone Active, which runs the park.

Choirs from Beethoven Community Centre, Essendine primary and St Augustine’s primary schools (pictured) got everyone in the festive spirit with a host of much-loved carols.

Mince pies and other festive treats were also available to guests.

“We were thrilled to bring the local community together for our annual Christmas lights switch-on event,” said Everyone Active general manager Cheyenne Green.

“It was a fantastic evening, filled with beautiful carols and lots of friendly faces from the local community. What better way to get everyone feeling the festive spirit and all for such an important cause as Macmillan?”
