Are the parole boards fit for purpose?

12 January, 2018

• ARE today’s parole boards fit for purpose?

The most recent decision… to release the so-called “black cab rapist”, a multiple perpetrator of this vile offence, is yet another instance that prompts this question, following the decision to grant double killer Kenneth Noye the move to an “open” prison and the release of the instigator of the vile murder of three unarmed London police officers in the notorious Shepherd’s Bush shootings of 1966.

Has the term “judicial retribution” become confused with the all too often tut-tutting accusation of “revenge” when querying the decisions increasingly met in those responsible for setting the benchmark for the protection of the body and mind of the victim in today’s society? Concern has rapidly and reasonably turned to consternation!
