What the display will look like
ONE million pounds is being spent on the Christmas lights display in Bond Street, organisers said yesterday (Thursday).
The light show will reference the “dapper men” of the 18th century and create rows of white peacock feathers (above) using 250,000 lamps. The inspiration behind the display, which will be switched on next Thursday, is that in the 18th century the street was a favourite haunt of “The Bond Street Loungers” who “became the early fashionistas or ‘peacocks’ of their day”.
Organisers said the Bond Street scheme will “lead the thousands of lighting displays taking place all over the world”.
